Dear Colleagues, We invite you to explore the richness of geographical science worldwide and to come together in order to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation at the global level. The IGU Regional Conference 2026, to be held in 2026 in Istanbul, offers a platform to emphasize the significance of geographical research and science. This conference will provide new perspectives for understanding the profound impacts of geography on natural and human systems, encourage discussions aimed at finding solutions to global challenges, and bring together the geographical community from around the world. The conference will take place at Istanbul University between 17–21 August 2026, an ideal venue for discovering the historical and cultural richness of Istanbul.

The 9th Istanbul Province Inter-Middle School Social Sciences Project Competition, with the main theme "The World in the Shadow of Climate," was held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, hosted and organized by FMV Private Ayazağa Işık Middle School, with the support of the Turkish Geographical Society. Nine middle schools participated in the event, where students presented their projects. Under the supervision of advisor social studies teachers representing each school, the students' presentations were observed by the selection committee along with all participating schools. Subsequently, the selection committee, consisting of Mesut SÜZER, Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Geographical Society, and Prof. Dr. İhsan ÇİÇEK, Climate Scientist and Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Geographical Society from Ankara University, evaluated the projects. The winning schools and their project titles are as follows: FMV Private Işık Middle School Project Name: “Act Before the World Disappears!” 2. Terakki Foundation Schools Private Şişli Terakki Tepeören Middle School Project Name: “Eco-anxiety Created by the Climate Crisis in Young People” 3. VKV Koç Middle School Project Name: “Global Awareness of Global Concern” SCHOOL RECEIVING HONORABLE MENTION AWARD: FMV Private Ispartakule Middle School Project Name: “The Cry of Nature” All schools, students, and teachers who participated in the project competition received certificates of participation, and the top three students received medals, while their schools received crystal awards.
