Dear Colleagues, Milan Bufon, and I are drafting a call for session for the most exciting EUROGEO Conference in Malta May 2014 http://www.eurogeo.nl/malta2014/ . COMB session is tentavely entitled
PROPOSAL FOR A SESSION ON “MANAGEMENT OF ...CROSS-BORDER AND COASTAL POLICIES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN” WITHIN THE EUROGEO 2014 ANNUAL CONFERENCE, MAY 15-17, VALLETTA, MALTA We envisage the following Session themes The session “Management of cross-border and coastal policies in the Mediterranean” would like thus to explore and discuss some current and future issues related to common planning needs in the region, namely: • Conceptual aspects of Mediterranean cross-bordering and impacts on Europe-MENA relationships • Reflective Undestanding of Mediterranean Changing Societies and Region from a cross-bordering perspective • The Barcelona Convention and cross-border aspects of sustainable development policies; • The New ENPI and reflexive understanding of cross borders relationships and new ENPI initial impacts • Regions, Euroregions and the Interreg: multilevel governance within the Euromed context; • Civil societies, NGO, networked places and people: multi-stakeholders governance and politics. • Effects of Trans-European Transport Networks and EU’s common energy programmes on regional policies in the Mediterranean; • The role of Mediterranean ports in global trade: between competition and cooperation; • Sun-belt effects, tourism and cross-border cooperation between coastal cities; • Multi-level governance and immigration policies: the Mediterranean EU’s “Outer Border”; • European regions of the future: Euromed and the “Southern Perspective” vs. the Baltic region and the “Northern Perspective”; • Knowledge-based cooperation in the Mediterranean: common research projects and regional core competence • Cross-border and coastal trade, logistics, cruising, fishering entrepreneurships and cooperation • Cross-border crime and illegal activities • Youth and gender perspectives on management of cross-border and coastal policies • Cross-border Politics and practices of bodies If may interested to submit, please send us a short abstrat and title with your affiliation to Milan and me milan.bufon@upr.si ; paradiso@unisannio.it by 15 January. Languages are both English and French. If anybody has a proposal for an additional COMB session with possible initial speakers is welcome to get in touch with me. have to send all proposals and designated chairs by no longer then 26 January to Eurogeo.
